项目摘要
The long-term goal of my research program is to develop improved techniques for the prediction, remediation, and prevention of groundwater contamination derived from mine wastes and other sources of dissolved contaminants. Over the term of my CRC appointment I will focus on three major themes: A. implementation and application of non-traditional isotope measurement techniques to enhance our understanding of (bio)geochemical processes in groundwater systems; B. development of innovative approaches for remediation of contaminated water; and C. determination of the mechanisms of release, transport, and attenuation of metals in mine wastes and industrial wastes. This research will improve environmental protection.
