Our research focuses on the evolutionary forces acting on genome structure and sexualsystems to account for the remarkable diversity among species. Using mathematicalmodels, we will explore the implications of conflict between different phases of thelife cycle (e.g., conflicts between haploid sperm/eggs and diploid adults). Usingexperimental evolution, we aim to uncover the processes underlying speciation inyeast. Through whole genome sequencing, we will determine the genes contributingto reproductive isolation. Finally, we are developing new bioinformatics tools toinvestigate the influence of traits on diversification and are applying these to alarge-scale database on sexual systems.
