Particles delivered to the respiratory tract via the nose can be beneficial (e.g. intranasal medicines), or harmful, as in the case of airborne pollutants. Dr. Finlay¿s research will develop new methods for assessing the fate of particles entering the respiratory tract. This research will allow rapid feedback to researchers in the field and will expedite product development of nasal aerosol and spray products, as well as aiding risk exposure assessment of environmental aerosols and consumer products. It will also allow design of dramatically improved medical products, and better prediction of the health effects of consumer and ambient particles.
