The proposed research will develop novel waste-heat driven adsorption-based air conditioning, atmospheric water harvesting, and thermal storage systems, which are crucial in applications including air conditioning systems and greenhouse-grown food. Exploiting available and abundant waste-heat has the potential to address challenges that are central to global strategic priorities, including reducing the primary energy consumption of buildings and greenhouses, mitigating food and water scarcity, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, thus improving quality of life. Producing clean food and potable water under any climate condition using only sustainable energy, namely waste-heat, can lead to food and water security in Canada and abroad.
