The exponential growth of high-speed wireless communications has had a profound impact on our society. The proposed research program leverages the tremendous success of machine learning to develop technologies for the next-generation wireless networks. The proposed research will utilize a data-driven methodology to advance optimization theory as applied to the wireless scheduling, precoding, and massive device activity detection problems. It will further develop distributed learning techniques for collaborative wireless localization and will advance the theory of learning under communication constraints. This interplay between communication and learning theory will yield exciting new techniques in both fields.
