Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death globally. More than 10 million catheter-based procedures are performed worldwide annually to diagnose and treat these diseases. This research program aims to: 1) utilize imaging information to characterize and predict device performance in cardiovascular interventions; 2) improve on the delivery of therapy through the design and development of novel devices; and 3) to design and develop novel imaging tools for improving diagnosis accuracy and assisting in procedure guidance. This research program will make fundamental advances in the field aimed at improving cardiovascular disease management and reducing its burden on patients and healthcare providers.
