The proposed research program targets the development and implementation of sustainable strategies for recovery of valuable resources, nutrients and organic carbon, from bio-waste and wastewaters. The goal is to ensure consistent production of high-quality bio-based chemical end-products, such as formulated granular fertilizers, sustainable bio-detergents and bio-pesticides, using an innovative «Quality by Design» approach adapted to resource recovery. Ultimately, this research will help reducing the waste of finite resources and environmental pollution, and improving food security, while residues will acquire economic value. All of this will spark a win-win-win situation for the environment, society, and circular economy in Canada and abroad.
