英文摘要
The restoration of lakes impacted by human activities has been ongoing for decades, but biological recovery has often been slow and difficult to gauge due to a lack of pre-impact information. Dr. Rennie¿s research group will examine the impacts of emerging contaminants on aquatic ecosystems, and develop paleo-eDNA methods for determining pre-impact communities in altered ecosystems, thus enhancing lake ecosystem recovery efforts through re-establishment of native species. This will be tested using a whole-lake re-establishment experiment. Additionally, research documenting fish behaviour and movement will be used to help inform more effective restoration strategies applied to recovering Great Lakes fish populations.
