英文摘要
The overall objective of this research program is to develop tools and methods for advanced management of complex products through their life cycles in the new paradigms of sustainability, manufacturing and information technology. The following research objectives are defined :Obj1: Enhancing eco-design modeling and tools for customized and open architecture products: Open architecture products are a new class of products with a fixed platform and modules that will be added in later stages based on customer preference. This research aims to assess the applicability of existing eco-design tools for these types of products and proposes an effective tool for integrating sustainability into the design phase. Visualization and data mining approaches will be evaluated to exploit strategic insights into the design for the environment tool. A Ph.D. student will work on this objective.Obj2: Advanced management of aircraft at the end of life (EoL): The recovery process of the complex products is challenging in terms of material variability, complexity, integration and recovery logistics. Management of the aircraft at EoL is becoming an emerging problem in the aviation industry. In this research, the challenges of the existing EoL aircraft treatment systems will be assessed. The implications of new manufacturing technologies in the design stage, information technology, and contemporary logistics solutions will be examined for addressing these challenges. Data envelop analysis will be used for evaluating the efficiency of the treatment systems and the value proposed for the key stakeholders. A cost-benefit analysis with a joint application of the fuzzy rule-based model with Monte-Carlo simulation will be used for evaluating the impacts of new manufacturing and logistics technologies. A master student will work on this objective.Obj3: Exploring the deployment of Internet of things (IoT) for real-time data-driven optimization of parts and material recovery management of EoL aircraft and its impacts on sustainability: EoL aircraft treatment will be considered as a pilot study for evaluating the impact of IoT for improving the recovery network. The waste hierarchy approach will be used to highlight the application of IoT in the different sub-processes of treatment. Parts and material identification with embedded sensors and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) will be assessed for the smart sorting process in dismantling and material recovery. An integrated real-time data-driven stochastic model will be developed for the optimization of parts and material recovery, scheduling of treatment operation and material handling. Moreover, considering the role of different players in EoL aircraft recovery logistics, the value perceived by different players will be identified. A system dynamics approach will be applied for analyzing the adoption of IoT on its impacts on sustainability and key stakeholders. A Ph.D. and a Master student will work on this objective.
