Buildings consume about 30% of the total global energy consumption and as such contribute to nearly 28% of the total global energy related CO2 emissions. Building energy consumption is therefore a major contributor to the climate change. The energy management systems in existing buildings are rudimentary and are mostly operated either in manual mode or through elementary controllers. In this project, we are proposing to generate more data from these buildings using 5G sensors and technology. This data will be used in conjunction with machine learning tools to optimize energy usage without sacrificing on the user experience in buildings. The proposed technology can be used in a wide range of small to large scale buildings such as hotels, hospitals, malls and other commercial buildings.
