英文摘要
Quantum technologies will radically transform society by redefining how humans interact with their environment. With unprecedented sensitivity, quantum sensors will be able to detect the invisible, while quantum computers will be able to simulate the world with unparalleled accuracy, providing solutions to climate change, efficient energy use and drug discovery. To accelerate the quantum revolution, academic and industrial players from Canada and the United Kingdom are joining forces with young Canadian companies to accelerate the transition to the commercial exploitation of quantum technologies and their large-scale deployment. However, the production of the microelectronic circuits at the heart of these technologies does not yet meet industry standards in terms of quality, reproducibility and cost. The objective of the consortium is to break down this barrier to quantum development by setting up an industrial manufacturing platform that meets the needs of the sector. To achieve this goal, the consortium relies on an industrial partnership with Oxford Instruments, which has the necessary equipment and extensive expertise in industrial process development. Benefiting from the know-how of the Université de Sherbrooke, McGill University and the University of Calgary in the implementation of quantum systems, the consortium will lift the technological locks by allowing Canadian spin-off companies, SBQuantum and Nord Quantique, to propel their quantum technologies ahead of the competition.
