Northwestern Ontario is undergoing a major transformation with strong growth in key sectors of the economy. This is a creative, innovative, and dynamic region with internationally recognized talents in major sectors such as forestry, mining, and manufacturing, which is driven by our strategic location as an important natural resource, service, and transportation center. Confederation College is well-positioned to be a leader in Northwestern Ontario's innovation ecosystem through these emerging areas of applied research: advanced manufacturing, technology, and sustainability, and rural, remote, and Indigenous community-focused applied research programs. Supported projects would provide applied research and business support services to industry and community partners in Northwestern Ontario with anticipated outcomes of meaningful social and/or economic benefit.
