This project aims to design and develop a national clinical registry of stroke patients that receive life saving treatment. The long-term vision of this registry is to help reduce any inferior care received by patients that reside in rural communities compared to urban areas of Canada. The registry will provide a basis to enable tracking and sharing of performance with more than 200 stroke hospital across Canada.The registry will have several key objectives: 1. Design a software application that allows for easy data collection in the emergency department2. Design a patient/family facing software application that allows them to provide their self-identification details3. Design a patient reported outcomes measure portal for the registry4. Design engaging interactive data visualizations of site performance and data completeness5. Distribute the registry to over 200 stroke hospitals across Canada6. Gauge and reduce differences between rural and urban hospitals in access to life saving treatment for stroke patients in CanadaThis work will be completed in partnership with the following 2 organizations:1. Medtronic: a large medical device company that designs and manufactures devices for clot retrieval/removal in stroke patients.2. Lumiio: A small company that specialized in patient registries and real-world data collection systems.
