This research project aims to develop and validate guidelines for industrial user experience (UX) professionals which specify measurement tools and analytical methods to 1) minimize intrusivity, 2) maximize insight, and 3) minimize time-to-insight during UX testing in both controlled and uncontrolled environments. To accomplish this project aim, our research team and the partner organizations Deloitte, Desjardins, D-Box, ServiceNow, Sobeys, Blue Yonder, AllôProf, Videotron will conduct a series of studies with various types of users (i.e., citizens, employees, consumers) using various technological interfaces in different contexts of use. Critically, we will employ a battery of different intrusive and non-intrusive neuropsychophysiological measurement tools, taking into consideration the latest measurement technologies and analytical techniques. Then, through a systematic experimental and analytical approach targeting various individual UX constructs, we will produce a validated set of guidelines which satisfy our three key project aims and which can be generalized to various use cases and environments. UX testing has become a staple R&D practice for industries throughout the Canadian economy due to the positive impact it can have for all stakeholders, from employees and suppliers to customers and citizens. Correspondingly, this research should confer a strong benefit, both economically and socially, to Canada and beyond.In particular, these guidelines will take into consideration the latest in non-invasive measurement technologies and analytical techniques, thus helping ensure that the guidelines represent the cutting edge in UX testing methodology.. Aligning their development goals with these guidelines should then help industries maximize the effectiveness of their UX research activities.
