综合理解特殊生境特色类群物种分化的驱动力是揭示植物多样性及特有性形成机制的关键,也是生物多样性保护的核心问题。南岭山地是我国植物多样性及特有性中心,生境高度异质,喀斯特及丹霞地貌交错分布成典型的“特殊土壤岛屿”景观。本研究以该区域特色植物大齿报春苣苔复合群 (Primulina juliae complex) 为例,拟基于高通量测序及近缘种参考基因组,综合群体基因组及基因组信息学分析,揭示其基因组分化格局;重建谱系关系,鉴定物种边界;检测杂交渐渗动态,阐明其对该类群物种多样性的影响;鉴定基因组岛,探讨生殖隔离的遗传基础;结合不同生境居群的土壤元素特征及表型分析,鉴定特殊生境适应性进化的遗传基础,揭示不同生境群体/物种是否存在趋同进化。综合探讨杂交/渐渗、自然选择及遗传漂变等进化过程在该类群物种形成过程中的相对贡献。研究结果对于理解特殊生境景观植物多样性和特有性的起源与进化机制具有重要意义。

Comprehensive understanding of the role of several kinds of evolutionary driver factors in the divergence of species endemic in special habitats is critical for uncovering the mechanisms of species diversity and endemism, and also a key scientific question for biodiversity conservation. Nanling mountain area has been recognized as one of the important biodiversity hotspots with the high floristic richness and high species endemism. Nanling mountain area is characteristic of highly heterogeneous habitat, especially the mosaic distribution of karst and Danxia landforms have generated the typical landscape of “special edaphic islands”. In the present study, Primulina juliae complex, typically endangered plants endemic to two kinds of special habitats, including karst and Danxia landform, will be selected as a case study to test the mechanisms of speciation in such special habitat. The genomic diversity and genetic structure of P. juliae complex will be examined based on re-sequencing technologies, together with the reference genome from closely related species. Phylogenetic relationship and species delimitation will be reconstructed. The dynamics of hybridization and introgression among species will be examined, in order to test the effect of hybridization on biodiversity level and uncover genetic basis of reproductive isolation in these taxa. Together with the key information of mineral elemental profiles and phenotype analysis involved in the common garden experiments, we will identify the genetic basis of adaptation of these species to such special habitats, and test the presence of convergent evolution phenomenon among populations/ species located in different habitats. Finally, we will discuss the relative contribution of natural selection, hybridization and genetic drift to the speciation and evolution in such area. Our results will be critically important for understanding the mechanisms of origin and evolution of species diversity and endemism in special habitat landscape.
