研究候鸟对觅食地的利用不仅是迁徙停歇生态学的重要内容,也是受胁物种保护的关键。本项目以受胁物种斑尾塍鹬(Limosa lapponica)和大滨鹬(Calidris tenuirostris)为研究对象,围绕外源性因素和内源性因素对迁徙鹬类在关键迁徙停歇地觅食地利用的影响这一问题,首先,分析食物空间分布的差异对斑尾塍鹬两性间及斑尾塍鹬和大滨鹬种间觅食地利用的影响,并在个体水平上探讨斑尾塍鹬和大滨鹬的食物获取器官(喙)和食物处理器官(肌胃)的特征与觅食地利用的关系;然后,探究鹬类空间分布变化与食物空间分布变化之间的关系,明确鹬类空间分布与食物空间分布的反馈机制,并进一步基于功能响应模型预测并验证食物密度对鹬类空间分布的影响。本项目研究结果不仅从消化器官特征和食物特征剖析鹬类在迁徙停歇地的觅食地利用,还为制定针对性的鹬类保护对策提供参考依据。
英文摘要
Foraging site use is not only an important topic in stopover ecology, but also the key for conserving threatened species. This project will study how exogenous and endogenous factors affect foraging site use of migratory shorebirds at their key staging site, using Bar-tailed Godwits (Limosa lapponica) and Great Knots (Calidris tenuirostris) as model species. We will first analyze how the spatial distribution of food affects the use of foraging sites, focusing on the differences between male and female of Bar-tailed Godwits and between Bar-tailed Godwits and Great Knots. For both species we will investigate the relationship between foraging site use and the individual’s feeding organ (bill) and internal processing organ (gizzard). Then, we will explore the interaction between the spatial distribution change of birds and that of their prey, in order to investigate the feedback between the two. By calibrating a the functional response model, we will predict the effect of food density on the spatial distribution of shorebirds. The results of this project will not only study on how the characteristics of digestive organs and food affect foraging site use of shorebirds during migratory stopover, but also provide scientific basis for the targeted conservation actions.
