驼舞虻亚科是舞虻科最大的亚科之一，全世界已知15属650余种，广泛分布世界各地。成虫口器特化为刺突状，其捕食能力强, 为一些重要农林及卫生害虫的天敌，在害虫的生物防治方面具有利用前景。目前有关驼舞虻亚科属间系统发育关系尚未见研究报道，而我国驼舞虻亚科的分类有待系统修订。. 本项目拟在前期研究工作的基础上开展我国驼舞虻亚科的分类研究，运用形态分类学方法，对各属的分类进行系统修订，查清我国的种类和分布格局，完成我国驼舞虻亚科分类的英文专著；此外，运用支序系统学方法，重建驼舞虻亚科系统发育框架，修订和完善其分类系统。研究结果对于开展该类群天敌昆虫多样性的保护和利用研究以及探讨其系统演化均具有重要的理论和实际意义。

Hybotinae is one of the largest subfamilies in Empididae. It contains 5 genera and over 650 species known from the world. The adults have spine-like mouthparts and are significant predators of some important crop, forest and health pests. They may be utilized in biocontrol of pests. But the phylogenetic relationships among genera is not clear, and the fauna of Hybotinae in China is not well known.. The present project is to make a study of systematics and phylogeny of Hybotinae. Each genus of the subfamily from China will be revised in order to clarify species diversity and distribution pattern. Monograph of Hybotinae from China will be prepared. Phylogeny of the subfamily will be reconstructed by the cladistic method. Based on the result of the phylogenetic study, the phylogenetic relationships among genera of the subfamily will be clarified, and its classification system will be modified. The result of the research will play an important role in the biodiversity conservation and sustainable exploitation of dance flies and understanding the phylogeny of the subfamily.
