综合研究正处于恢复过程中的珊瑚岸礁生态系统群落结构与环境因素（温度、盐度、潮汐、海平面、台风等）、人类因素变化的动态关系，确定珊瑚礁生态系统的恢复过程和恢复原因，揭示影响该区珊瑚礁发育的主要因素。结合当地居民的生活、生产方式提出科学保护珊瑚礁生态系统的方案，为珊瑚礁生态资源的充分利用和可持续发展提供科学依据。

Abstract The typical coral fringing-reef in Dengloujiao Cape, lying at the north margin of tropical zone, is selected as study area. Research is focused on the following topics: the species and ecology of the reef-building corals and their associated marobenthos, the coastal ocean hydrology and primary productivity, the regional landscape ecology, the investigation of the local people's behaviors associated with the coral reef and local socio-economic situation. 8 papers have been published in national scientific journals, 1 paper in international conference(abstract), and 1 dissertation of Ph.D. The characteristic of the coral reef ecosystem is summarized in those papers, as well as the status and prospect for coral reef ecology, and the coral reef wetland of China. It is discussed in those papers that the ocean environment of past, present day and coming day in the studied area are suit for the growth of coral and development of coral reef, which denies the past theory that coral reef can not be formed in present day. It is reported that there are 8 families, 16 genus and 25 species of reef-building corals and 7 kinds, 39 families and 88 species of mcrobenthos. It shows that the existence of corals rich the benthos communities of the studied area. The regional landscape, the coral reef protection and management are studies on the base of the natural and social data in this area.
