英文摘要
Perceptual learning refers to the process to improve sensory discrimination through training. Perceptual learning reflects the neural plasticity of the brain and is one of the important areas in cognitive neuroscience. In the recent years, the applicant developed an innovative double training paradigm, and demonstrated that perceptual learning often completely transfer to new retinal locations, orientations and physical stimuli that are initially encoded by different neuronal mechanisms. These findings indicate that perceptual learning is a high-level process that operates at an abstract conceptual level. The applicant thus proposed a new concept theory and published in Nature Neuroscience, PLoS Biology, Current Biology, J. Neuroscience, eLife and other influential journals. The proposed research will continue to investigate perceptual learning and its cognitive and brain mechanisms and test and improve the concept theory, as well as study the mechanisms of perceptual learning in amblyopia. The specific topics include 1) the cross-modal learning transfer with double training paradigm; 2) the transfer of perceptual learning to a physically and orientation different stimulus with triple training paradigm; 3) A new format of perceptual learning that abstracts stimulus evidence from multiple stimulus conditions; 4) the mechanisms and applications of dichoptic perceptual learning in adults and children with amblyopia.
