西昆仑新生代隆升过程对于理解青藏高原西北缘的隆升扩展及动力学机制具有重要的科学意义。为了区分西昆仑不同块体的隆升记录、全面揭示西昆仑新生代隆升扩展过程,本申请选择夹持于西昆仑北和西昆仑南块体之间的布雅盆地为研究区,选取盆地北部布雅煤矿(靠近西昆仑北块体)和南部喀什塔什(靠近西昆仑南块体)两条新生代沉积剖面,开展剖面描述与实测,建立布雅盆地新生代沉积序列和沉积演化过程;通过现今水系河沙样品和两条剖面新生代砂岩样品的碎屑锆石U-Pb分析,结合古水流方向,确定新生代不同时期的盆地沉积源汇系统;在此基础上,开展两条剖面不同层位新生代砂岩样品的碎屑磷灰石裂变径迹分析,利用年龄峰和时滞曲线全面揭示西昆仑南、北两个块体的新生代隆升剥露过程。结合前人其它研究成果,编制布雅盆地及邻区构造古地理图,探讨青藏高原西北缘西昆仑新生代隆升扩展过程和动力学机制。

Understanding the uplift processes of Western Kunlun is essential to constrain the growth of the NW Tibetan Plateau and its geodynamics. The Buya Basin, located between the North and South Blocks of Western Kunlun, offers a key location to unravel the uplift of the Western Kunlun. To distinguish uplift histories of these two blocks, we propose to analyze two Cenozoic sedimentary sections: the Kashitashi section at the southern part of the basin adjacent to the South Block of Western Kunlun and the Buya Coal Mine section at the northern part of the basin adjacent to the North Block of Western Kunlun, respectively. We attempt to constrain the depositional sequences and their evolution through sedimentological analysis and to determine the source-to-sink system of the basin through a combination of the paleocurrent measurement and the U-Pb dating of detrital zircons from both the modern river sediments and the Cenozoic sequences. After establishing the source areas of the Cenozoic sediments, detrital apatite fission-track analysis will be applied on these sediments to unravel the exhumation processes of both the South and North Blocks of Western Kunlun. These results, combined with previous studies, will be used to compile the tectono-paleogeographical maps of the Buya Basin and its surrounding regions, which in turn will enable us to understand the Cenozoic development of Western Kunlun along the NW margin of the Tibetan Plateau and the geodynamics behind the growth processes.
