Engineering Research Equipment Grant: Phase Doppler ParticleAnalyzer

两个项目，一个是通过喷雾冷却方法分析低过热度表面的热传递，另一个是测量扩散火焰中的碳烟颗粒尺寸和动力学，将通过增加一台相位多普勒颗粒分析仪(PD PA)来加强。PDPA能够同时测量液体喷雾或扩散火焰中的颗粒尺寸、一个速度分量、数密度、颗粒体积流量和流速。该设备应能提高对喷雾冷却过程中的传热，特别是临界热流密度，以及烟尘形成和扩散火焰结构的定量了解。

Two projects, one to analyze heat transfer from a surface with a low superheat via a spray cooling method, and the second to measure soot particle size and dynamics in diffusion flames, will be strengthened by the addition of a Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer (PD PA). The PDPA is capable of measuring simultaneously the particle size, one velocity component, number density, particle volume flux and flow rate in a liquid spray or in a diffusion flame. This equipment should improve the quantitative understanding of heat transfer, and specifically critical heat flux, in spray cooling, and of soot formation and diffusion flame structures.
