Comprehensive Talent Development for High School Youth Through a Program in Scholarly Research: A Paradigm for Enhanced Participation of Urban/Minority Youth

The University of Michigan seeks to provide a Young scholars Program in interdisciplinary science and mathematics for 30 high school students in grades ten, eleven, and twelve. The residential program will be eight weeks in length during the summer with follow-up activities during the academic year. The program provides students an opportunity to participate in an authentic research project with outstanding faculty members of various disciplines at the University of Michigan combined with integrated activities in the natural, physical, engineering, and mathematical sciences.
