ITR: Educating a Wireless Information Systems Workforce

The goal is toproduce information technology (IT) professionals with the knowledge toaddress the special challenges (e.g. user mobility, adverse communicationschannels, limited battery life) posed by emerging wireless informationsystems. A secondary objective is to develop innovative instructionalmethods and tools using wireless devices in the classroom and laboratorythat extend through K-16 education. The research and coursework associatedwith this educational track are needed to help meet the explosive demandfor IT professionals from wireless service providers, wireless equipmentmanufacturers, applications developers using wireless systems, and wirelessinformation systems users.
