California HIgh School Cosmic ray ObServatory (CHICOS)

CHICOS (California HIgh school Cosmic ray ObServatory) is acollaborative project involving Caltech, Cal State Northridge, andlocal high school physics teachers to site an array of particledetectors at high schools in the Los Angeles area. The array willoperate as a coordinated network and will be capable of detectingand characterizing a sample of the highest energy elementaryparticles ever observed. The project will offer students andteachers in local high schools a unique opportunity to collaboratewith researchers at Caltech and address fundamental issues at theforefront of present-day astrophysics and particle physics.
