HAEC A07 will investigate together with A10 (packaging) and A11 (modulator) a new approach with unique multi-dimensional performance and energy adaptivity in the optical onboard link from transistor up to system level. Higher-order modulation schemes will be realized by designing novel adaptive high-speed energy-efficient modulator drivers with fully-integrated highly-complex electro-optical modulation systems which will be monolithically integrated with modulators in leading-edge electro-photonic technology. Performance adaptivity on system level, by switching between different modulation levels, and on circuit level will be studied, leading to significant energy savings.
