A major book will be written on the changing geography of people and places across Australia's settlement system between 1976 to 2006. How to cope with change represents exciting opportunities for some people in some places, while other people and places are vulnerable. The challenges for public policy are enormous, requiring rethinking of approaches by governments at all levels.
