Multiple Researches on the Correspondence between Forest Resources and Global Environmental Problems.

保护全球环境和森林生态系统是当今世界面临的最严峻的问题之一。另一方面，木材的消耗量一直在增加。因此，科学观念与民意之间的差距越来越大。研究的目的是澄清民意与科学观念不一致的原因，并获得以下结果。来自林业和木材科学的合作研究项目对解决这些问题非常重要。从事木材工业的人对林业知识的学习不投入，大多数林业工作者忽视了木材的利用。人们正在认识到森林在吸收空气中的二氧化碳和吸收二氧化碳方面的作用。现在人们必须认识到森林是碳的储存库。3)保护遗传资源就是保持生物多样性，这有助于通过生物技术提高资源质量。木材是比非木质材料更好的材料，因为木质材料是碳的储存库。5)研究正在进行中，本研究课题组对重点领域科研资助提出了挑战。

To preserve the global environment and to protect the forest ecosystems are one of the most serious problems in the world. On the other hand, the consumption of wood has been increasing. Therefore, the gap between scientific concept and public opinions has increased.The purpose of the research was to clarify the cause of the discrepancy of the public opinions and the scientific concepts, and the following results are obtained.1) The co-operative research programmes which come from the science of forestry and wood are very important to resolve the problems. People in the wood industries are not to be devoted to realising forestry knowledges, and most foresters have ignored wood utilization.2) People are realising the role of forest which realize O_2 and absorb CO_2 in the air. Now people have to realize that the forest acts as the reservoirs of carbon.3) To preserve the genetic resources means to keep the biological diversity, and this action contributes to elevating the quality of resources through the biotechnology.4) Wood is better material than non-woody materials, because woody materials are the reservoirs of carbon.5) The research is progressing, and the research group of this study is challenging to the Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Priority Areas.
