A Folkloristic Research on the Tradition of Village Self-Government and the Dou (the little temple) customs in Itsuki-tani, Kyushu-Mountains

这项研究有两个目的。第一个目的是澄清目前的状况窦（小庙）存在于每个村庄的Itsuki-tani，九州山。二是分析窦氏在村落生活中的角色和性格。斗兽场一直是居民精神生活和交流的中心大厅，也是孩子们的游乐场。因此，窦氏在乡村自治和乡村认同中发挥了重要作用。斗是居民聚会的生活设施，而不是宗教祈祷的设施。如果窦被用于村民会议及其活动，它会使一个村庄变得欢快而有条理。村庄公共设施的建设对村民自治的顺利进行具有重要意义。因此，我们得出结论，今后需要一个政策，充分利用窦在农村生活中

This research has two aims. The first aim is clarifying of the present condition of the Dou (the little temple) which existed in each village of Itsuki-tani, Kyushu-Mountains. The second is analyzing of the Dou's role and character in village lifeResults of this research are as follows :1. Dou has been the central hall for the sake of inhabitants' spiritual life and communication and it was the playground for children. Therefore, Dou had played the important role for the Village self-government and village identity2. Dou is the life facilities which inhabitants assemble in to meet rather than religious facilities to pray3. If Dou is used for the village meeting and its events, it makes a village be cheerful and methodical4. It is significant that the village has public facilities to keep up the village self-government. Consequently, we arrive at the conclusion that hereafter a policy to use sufficiently the Dou in village life is needed
