Analysis of immunosuppression mechanism by sialic acids on cancer cells, and a feasible study to control immune reaction using sialylated carbohydrates.

本研究旨在增加对癌细胞免疫逃避的认识，重点关注出现唾液酸（唾液酰Tn抗原）与癌症的发生和进展。通过异种移植和同基因移植动物模型，以及唾液酸包被脂质体，我们证明了唾液酸具有抑制肿瘤免疫的调节功能。此外，我们建立了产生一系列永生化细胞的方法，可用于进一步研究免疫逃避的机制。

This study was conducted to increase knowledge about immune evasion by cancer cells, focusing on appearing sialic acids(Sialyl Tn antigen) with development and progression of cancer. Using xenotransplantation and syngenic transplantation animal models, and sialic acid coated liposome, we demonstrated that sialic acids had regulatory function to suppress tumor immunity. Additionally, we established methods to generate a series of immortalized cells that are available to investigate further mechanism of immune evasion.
