Examination on sediment flux control with biodegradable sheet block

海岸结构永久地控制着沉积物，有时过于有效，导致沿海沉积物下部的侵蚀区域扩大。沙袋是一种充满沙子的柔性软袋，是传统硬质海岸结构的替代方案，可以更适应地控制沉积物。此外，如果沙袋是用可生物降解的板材制成的，它会解体并失去泥沙控制，这可以视为改变了泥沙控制的幅度。在研究中，进行了不同类型的现场试验和数值模拟，以评估该概念的可行性。

Coastal structures control sediments permanently, sometimes too effectively resulting expansion of eroded areas in the downside of longshore sediment. Sandbag, a flexible soft bag filled with sand, is an alternative to the traditional hard coastal structure to control sediments more adaptively. Further, if the sandbag is fabricated from biodegradable sheet, it will break-up and lose sediment control which can be regarded as changing the magnitude of sediment control. In the study, different kinds of field tests and numerical simulation have been done to assess the feasibility of the concept.
