Feasibility study for LEAF Marque international market development

LEAF Marque enables and empowers farm enterprises to implement climate-positive and nature-based farming and food systems while maintaining yield and affordability. Already 45% of the fruit and vegetables sold in the UK is grown on LEAF Marque certified farms. Our vision is to establish the LEAF Marque approach in new countries for their own home markets. Our strategic objectives aim to increase the number and quality of strategic partnerships and collaborations; improve the diversity and scale of overseas market opportunities; and for more LEAF Marque certified product globally. We anticipate overseas growth as farming and food supply chains expand environmental sourcing in response to risk (including climate change), policy and regulation, and consumer demand. For this three-month feasibility study, our in-house team of Technical specialists will focus on four primary (including China and New Zealand) and five secondary countries. We will: seek and identify in-country partners / organisations where values and vision align; gain an understanding of local context (language, culture, policy, regulation, appetite for environmental improvement, etc); assess appropriate enablers to support engagement with and adoption of more sustainable farming practices and ultimately LEAF Marque certification. Following the feasibility, we will develop action plans for each country with in-depth discussions and meetings (online) with prospective partners/allies with the aim of new high-quality strategic partnerships for in-country collaborations to expand LEAF Marque. We offer good value for money: by using our own staff we will keep knowledge in-house for future business development; and by promoting climate-positive farm and food systems LEAF Marque contributes to our New Zero Carbon targets.
