Our project will deliver an innovative framework to ensure that asset data provides effective support for the whole life of assets from high-level design through construction/ handover and operations and eventually decommissioning.Building on current good-practice approaches, we will propose methods and structures that will ensure this innovative vision is achieved using evolutionary approaches to support the efficient delivery and effective running of Hanoi Metro. We will demonstrate the linkages between the physical asset and its virtual representation, also known as a Digital Twin and how this supports the whole life of the asset from overall requirements through high-level design down to detailed design, construction and handover. Such linkage and alignment also enables effective modelling of asset systems and performance enabling future decision making to be efficient and effective.Clarifying the approaches to asset identification taken by different disciplines across the life of the asset will enable sharing and linkage of vital asset information and documentation across different disciplines and lifecycle stages. These benefits can accrue across all organisational activities, not just asset management related activities. We will propose approaches to asset identification that build on good practice approaches adopted by other infrastructure projects to support Hanoi Metro.Clear asset definitions, relationships and representation will support the design and delivery of Line 5 and smoothly enable the transition to operations and the delivery of long-term strategic asset management goals. Such integrated approaches reduce project risk by avoiding silos and gaps between data sets/stakeholders. Common reference information, 3D object libraries and standards will also support development of future Hanoi Metro Lines.Asset information generally has to last at least as long as the asset it represents, which therefore spans many decades and multiple software systems for the majority of rail assets. Digital preservation is a key requirement to support effective whole life asset management to ensure that information is accessible, searchable and legible over the whole life of the asset. We will suggest approaches to data formats and metadata requirements that will ensure asset information is accessible and legible for the whole life of the railway. Our proposed approach will deliver methodologies and standards that build on current good practice, are optimised for use in Hanoi and will support long term, good practice asset management.
