Starboard Systems Limited is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) company that provides purpose-built cloud software to 925 parish and town councils ("local councils") for managing their financial accounts.The company is seeking funding to develop an asset management system to help address the problems faced by local councils in England.The current solutions local councils adopt are paper-based, spreadsheet-based, or rely on staff knowledge and memory. Existing digital asset management systems can be expensive, complicated to use, not sector-specific and hindered by poor connectivity and low bandwidth in rural areas.The goal of this project is to develop a new, cost-effective and user-friendly asset management system that will meet the specific needs of local councils. The system will be designed to work well in areas with low bandwidth and poor connectivity and will be more accessible and affordable for smaller councils. The system will help local councils reduce costs, improve efficiencies, and support the sustainable development of their communities.Public funds are necessary to support the development of the system as they will provide Starboard with the resources it needs to reach its business objectives without sacrificing equity and control.The project will support the growth and scalability of the business and help Starboard provide more job opportunities within the region and improve sustainability at councils throughout England.
