The proposed solution will be the development of an intelligent cloud-based recruitment and communication platform for connecting healthcare professionals, scientists, research nurses, trial coordinators and patients for better knowledge access and transfer on clinical trials.Called “www.YourTreatmentChoices.com”, the platform allows patients to watch and listen to videos of research doctors explaining the purpose and requirements of individual trials and the facility to engage directly with research teams. The innovativeness of the solution lies within developing an automated screening tool for selecting patients using data mining.Various cases of medical treatments in the NHS no longer prove effective for patients. With average timelines for innovations in the NHS of 17 years, the improvement of access and availability to new treatment trials is vital for increased trials successes and innovations in the NHS. Current trial failures are due to the challenge of recruiting patients resulting in 4 trials out of 10 non-completed. With a patient recruitment target of 125,000 per quarter year by 2014, the market in the UK represents a strong opportunity.
