Most available antibiotics do not work against bacterial infections, therefore new treatments are urgently needed. The immune system is one of the first lines of defence against bacterial infection that kills bacteria via a multitude of different mechanisms. This project aims to test thousands of molecules to find those that only kill bacteria when in the presence of immune attack. Determining the targets of these molecules and identifying how they produce these effects using a combination of chemistry and biology methods will help others to produce targeted treatments to boost the immune response against bacteria.UKRI BBSRC Priorities - Combatting antimicrobial resistance - Food, nutrition and health
