5a-Reductases: Mapping pathways of Metabolic Disease

5- α还原酶抑制剂可减轻良性前列腺增生的症状，但也可减少肝脏中糖皮质激素的分解。过量的糖皮质激素被认为会诱发代谢和心血管疾病。本项目旨在通过(1)调查包括THINS、SCI-DC、NHIRD（台湾）在内的电子健康数据集，(2)通过SNP和eQTL研究，构建5- α还原酶的下游调控网络，研究5- α还原酶与心脏代谢疾病进展之间的联系。

5-alpha reductase inhibitors reduce the symptoms of benign prostate hyperplasia but also the breakdown of glucocorticoid in liver. Excess glucocorticoids are well recognised to induce metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. This project aims to investigate the link between 5-alpha reductase and progression of cardiometabolic diseases through (1) the investigation of electronic health datasets, including THINS, SCI-DC, and NHIRD (Taiwan), and (2) SNP and eQTL studies to construct the downstream regulatory networks of 5-alpha reductase.
