虚假信息是一个新出现的威胁民主和社会稳定的全球问题。它经常使用与由文化、历史和政治背景以及国家认同塑造的先前存在的信念保持一致的叙事。我的研究试图在更小、更脆弱的国家深入了解这些背景。主要目的是了解造谣运动对这些国家的公众认知、决策和行为的影响，并确定如何利用不同的文化和历史背景。此外，还将进行纵向研究，利用社交媒体分析等计算方法，观察虚假信息叙事随时间的演变，重点关注国际和国内事件如何影响虚假信息叙事。最终，我的研究将开发和测试在较小国家打击虚假信息的可能策略。这项研究的预期贡献包括对虚假信息如何在不同的文化和政治环境中运作的更深层次的理论理解，以及形成其影响的实用策略。这项研究旨在为政策制定者、媒体组织和公民社会努力打击虚假信息提供有价值的见解。

Disinformation is an emerging global issue that threatens democracy and societal stability. It often usesnarratives that align with pre-existing beliefs shaped by cultural, historical, and political contexts andnational identities.My research seeks to gain an in-depth understanding of these contexts in smaller, more vulnerablecountries. The primary aim is to understand the impact of disinformation campaigns on public perception,decision-making, and behaviour in these nations and to identify how different cultural and historicalcontexts are used. Additionally, longitudinal studies will be conducted to observe the evolution ofdisinformation narratives over time, with a focus on how international and domestic events influence thesenarratives, using computational methods such as social media analysis. Ultimately, my research willdevelop and test possible strategies to counter disinformation in smaller countries.The expected contributions of this research include a deeper theoretical understanding of howdisinformation operates in diverse cultural and political settings, as well as practical strategies formitigating its effects. This research aims to provide valuable insights for policymakers, mediaorganisations, and civil society in their efforts to combat disinformation.
