Sex work, digital rights and freedoms: Creating safer online working environments across Europe

The studentship directly fits the Data, Communication and New Technologies Pathway, addressinga number of its grand challenges, including: "how [the] social dynamics [of sex work] shape andare shaped by digital infrastructures"; it will address challenges relating to the social, economic andpolitical nature of "data, information production and use, including metrics and algorithm bias" andthe relationship between "platform governance, surveillance or censorship" in shaping the safetyand security of sex workers. It will do so by exploring: how sex workers experience regulation on digital platforms across Europe what changes may be required to the regulation of digital sex work platforms to improvesex worker safety.
