DEVELOPMENT OF A SUPRAVENTRICULAR ARRHYTHMIA DATABASE

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. A major challenge in cardiac electrophysiology management is the automated detection of supraventricular arrhythmias and AV conduction disturbances recorded in cardiac monitors. A key this challenge is the development of an accurate, automated detection system for P waves. This project is directed at creating a digital database of extensive recordings of supraventricular arrhythmias and heart block. This database, including P wave annotation performed by an arrhythmia analysis expert, will constitute the most comprehensive supraventricular database of its kind. This collection should serve as a means of performance evaluation for automated detectors that will be acceptable from an FDA perspective, both for event monitoring with acute triggering and for Holter monitoring.
