This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Equipment Grant Program The Outreach Core issued an RFA to Network Outreach Institutions for equipment needed to conduct Pilot Research Projects. The following grants, funded from carryover monies, totaling $52,991 were awarded to NOI faculty: Dr. Belay at Bluefield State College, $10,867; Dr. Crick at Concord University, $17,785; Dr. Huggins at WV Wesleyan, $16,384; Dr. Flaherty at the University of Charleston, $4,955; and Dr. Stover at Davis and Elkins College, $3,000. The Outreach Core also issued an RFA to the investigators at the Network Research Institutions (NRIs) who were not already part of INBRE to purchase needed research equipment. These awards allowed the purchase of needed equipment to support faculty and student research projects by faculty at NRIs who were conducting biomedical research not already supported by WV-INBRE funds. A total of $66,212, funded from carryover monies, was awarded to three faculty. The following grants were awarded to NRI faculty member not otherwise supported by INBRE: Dr. Hankins, at WV State University, $34,250; Dr. Guetzloff at WV State, $19,677; and Dr. Baur at Fairmont State University, $12,285.
