Prevention and Treatment of Chronic Heart and Kidney Disease via Epidemiological, Pharmacol Device and Cell-Based Approaches

心力衰竭是指心脏不能充分地泵血以满足身体的需要。尽管最近在治疗方面取得了进展，但这种疾病的死亡率很高，因此迫切需要新的方法来治疗这种疾病。目前的拨款旨在：(1)确定未来发展为这种疾病的高风险患者，早期药物干预可能会减少或预防新心力衰竭的发展；(2)利用新的药物、设备和干细胞疗法，找到更好地治疗现有疾病患者的方法；(3)通过早期诊断和治疗策略，关注心力衰竭对肾脏的影响

Heart failure describes where the heart cannot pump adequately to meet the needs of the body. This condition has a high mortality despite recent advances in therapy, therefore, there is an urgent need for new approaches to this condition. The present grant aims to: (1) identify patients at high-risk for future development of this condition where early intervention with drugs may reduce or prevent the development of new heart failure; (2) use novel drugs, devices and stem cell therapies to identify ways to better treat patients with existing disease; (3) focus on the effect of heart failure on the kidney and vice versa via early diagnosis and treatment strategies
