Equipment is requested to advance the applicants’ research and engineering towards developing novel technologies and devices to prevent, assess, study and recover from head injuries. The requested equipment will enable research to better understand and quantify the physical dynamics of impact forces as well as generate knowledge on brain structure and function. The resulting advances will be used to design new technologies for monitoring brain function, managing the consequences of brain injuries, and assisting individuals to recover neuromotor function and live more independently. Highly qualified personnel will be trained using the requested equipment in a highly active and growing academic and industrial biomedical technology sector.
