Knee injuries and limitations can be caused by various circumstances such as neuromuscular disorders orsports accidents. In addition to requiring rehabilitation, these injuries limit an individual's independence andcapabilities to perform the activities of daily living. Despite the growing trend in wearable healthcaretechnologies for use at home and outdoors, many of the currently available options, especially those used forrehabilitation, can still be costly, inconvenient, and obtrusive. Thus, there is a need to design and develop alow-cost comfortable wearable device that can be utilized in rehabilitation exercises to improve currenttreatment strategies. The proposed research will focus on developing an innovative wearable device that can be used forrehabilitation, assisting the movement of those with knee limitations and disabilities and allowing for personaluse at home and outdoors. This could potentially lead to improved independence, reduced healthcare costs, anda better quality of life for individuals with limited mobility. Results of the research are also anticipated toposition the supporting organization to become a leader in wearable technologies.
