Dr. Wilson operates a diverse yet integrated research program including the genetics of Species-at-Risk such as the boreal caribou and polar bear and harvested species including moose and Canadian lynx. Dr. Wilson also studies the genomics of flying squirrels and deer mice that are influenced in their range distributions by climate change that may lead to potential hybridization and provide a system to search for genes undergoing rapid adaptive change. Dr. Wilson further maintaines research in Wildlife Forensic Science in projects such as setting up DNA markers in areas such as the global trade of elephant and now mammoth ivory.
