P. Constant from INRS and Transport Gaston Nadeau Inc. initiate a new collaboration within this NSERC**Engage grant to increase cranberry production at the farm scale. The company made important breakthroughs**in their recent efforts to build performant irrigation systems, and is now interested to explore whether further**gains of productivity can be achieved through a better understanding of the impact of farm management**practices on soil microorganisms supporting plant growth and nutrient cycling. This project aims to validate**experimentally the link between irrigation, soil nutrients, fruit productivity and soil microbial community**structure. The main deliverable of this project is a genomic barcode comprising the structure of soil microbial**assemblages supporting elevated cranberry production yield and their interaction with soil properties.**Knowledge transfer activities will enable Transport Gaston Nadeau Inc. to adjust their current irrigation set**point and fertilisation practices to promote the activity of soil microorganisms beneficial for cranberry**production.
