Dr. Gary Hinshaw, Canada Research Chair in Observational Cosmology, seeks to answer*profound questions about the origin and fate of our universe. In the past decade, he *and colleagues measured the age of the universe (13.8 billion years) and established *that its contents are dominated by dark matter and dark energy. To the best of our *knowledge, the universe will expand forever at an ever-increasing rate. Hinshaw is building two new radio telescopes in Canada to address two outstanding enigmas in cosmology: Did cosmic inflation really occur? What is the nature of the dark energy that dominates the universe?*
