Functional mobility relates to the ability of a person to perform regular activities of daily living. Numerous conditions and diseases affect this functional mobility, and therefore have an impact on the person¿s quality of life. The proposed research program makes use of advances in motion-capture technology, biomedical sensors and data processing to develop innovative measurement approaches and analytical algorithms to characterize different movement signatures. Deviations from the aimed signature is a good indicator of the presence of a disability, which can then be characterized, acted upon, and followed in time, hence allowing for individualized patient management.
