PCR with degenerative primers was used to derive a rainbow trout VH probe that, in turn, was used to screen a peripheral blood leukocyte (PBL) cDNA library from a single rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), Shasta strain. Several full length clones for secretory and membrane-bound forms of trout immunoglobulin heavy chain (IgHs) were isolated. The complete nucleotide sequence from 1 membrane bound form of trout IgH is described (EMBL/GenBank accession numbers U04615 and U04616 for RBTIGTM2 and RBTIGTM1 respectively).
