本文描述了采自广西南部东兴县的一新种--美丽叶下珠（Phyllagathiselegans）。它在习性、花序类型、花多部性、雄蕊和蒴果形态以及晶体形式上与卵叶原球茎非常相似，但与后者的区别在于具弯曲毛的长硬毛茎（相对于反折毛），上部浓密（相对于稀疏）叶状分枝，叶片3脉（相对于5-7脉），倒披针形或椭圆披针形（相对于卵形，长圆状卵形或宽椭圆形）。
Phyllagathis elegans (Melastomataceae, Sonerileae), a new species from Dongxing County in southern Guangxi, China, is described and illustrated. It closely resembles P. ovalifolia in habit, inflorescence type, floral merosity, stamen and capsule morphology, and crystal form, but differs from the latter in the hirsute stem with crooked hairs (vs. retrorse hairs), distally densely (vs. sparsely) leafy branches, and leaf blades 3-veined (vs. 5–7-veined), oblanceolate or elliptic-lanceolate (vs. ovate, oblong-ovate, or broadly elliptic).
