Dr. Norbert Franz Scherer has been awarded a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Chemistry. Dr. Scherer received his doctoral degree from the California Institute of Technology under the supervision of Professor Ahmed H. Zewail. He intends to continue his research at the University of Chicago under the sponsorship of Professor Graham Flemming. Dr. Scherer's area of postdoctoral research is femtosecond time-tesolved studies of the molecular aspects of solute-solvent interactions. This is to include dipolar solvation and solvation of a charge transfer species.
